Find quick answers for campus search, location access, voice tools, route guidance, and account notifications in Wayfinder.

Getting Started

Use this flow when you are opening Wayfinder for the first time.

  1. Search for a place. Use the catalog or map search to find buildings, rooms, offices, or campus areas.
  2. Confirm your start point. Tap the locate button, or use manual location mode when GPS is unavailable.
  3. Choose a destination. Review the route, travel mode, distance, and available guidance.
  4. Start navigation. Follow the route panel and turn on voice guidance when you need hands-free help.

Location Access

Location works best when your browser and device both allow access.

  • Allow location permission when the browser prompts you.
  • Enable device location services and move outdoors or near a window for better accuracy.
  • Use manual location mode if GPS is blocked, slow, or unavailable indoors.
  • Retry GPS after changing permissions or refreshing the page.

Notifications

Keep campus updates visible without leaving the app flow.

  • Enable browser notifications when prompted.
  • Check your browser settings if notifications are blocked for the site.
  • Use notification settings from your account menu to adjust preferences.
  • Stay signed in if you want account-aware notification behavior.

Troubleshooting

Try these quick fixes before reporting an issue.

  • Refresh the page if map controls or search results stop responding.
  • Use a stable internet connection for maps, routes, and search.
  • Recalculate the route if the path no longer matches your current position.
  • Clear browser site permissions and grant them again if location or microphone access is stuck.
FAQ

Common questions

Make sure your browser has location permission, device location services are enabled, and you have a stable signal. If GPS is unreliable indoors, use manual location mode.

Check that your starting location is accurate, choose the right travel mode, then recalculate the route. Campus conditions can change, so use posted signs and staff guidance when needed.

An internet connection is currently required for map tiles, location search, and route calculation. Campus WiFi or mobile data is recommended.

Voice search depends on microphone permission, browser support, and the speech service. Allow microphone access, use an updated browser, or type your search if voice input is unavailable.
